The ISR Extracurricular Athletic Program values the pursuit of excellence in athletics outside our regular program of physical education. We believe participation in athletics promotes development of the whole child and helps meet our students’ need for physical, emotional and social growth both on and off the field.
In athletic endeavors students learn to set goals and work hard to achieve them. They explore competition and cooperation, learning how to push themselves to do their best and be part of a team effort. In addition, they learn about the importance of good sportsmanship, build confidence in themselves, and foster good health habits.
Students in 1st through 9th grades can choose from four individual and team-sport opportunities. With more than 1,200 students participating on 108 interscholastic teams, over 57% of the student body (PI-9 grades) is involved in extracurricular athletics. Students also participate yearlong in local, national, and international competitions.
