Durante la última semana de febrero se llevaron a cabo los Talleres Vivenciales que año con año se planean para los alumnos de 9° de ambos campus.

Los Interims incluían talleres locales, nacionales e internacionales a los que los alumnos se inscribieron ansiosos de vivir la experiencia. Entre los talleres a los que asistieron nuestros alumnos, destacan:

Yucatán
Los alumnos viajaron a la ciudad de Mérida y visitaron los principales centros turísticos y culturales del estado, como la Catedral de San Idelfonzo, Chichen-Itzá, Uxmal y su espectáculo de luz y sonido, los cenotes de Cuzamá y la Hacienda Henequenera Sotuta en Peón, Puerto Progreso en donde también degustaron los platillos típicos de la región.

Además de empaparse de historia mexicana, los alumnos no perdieron la oportunidad de admirar una exposición de Salvador Dalí y una impresionante representación de “El Quijote” por el Ballet Nacional de Cuba. ¡Fue toda una experiencia inolvidable!

Wyoming
Este taller tiene lugar en Jackson Hole, Wyoming, en la Escuela de Ciencias Teton, cuyo enfoque es principalmente la aplicación de la ciencia en la naturaleza. Las actividades se centraban en el reconocimiento y conservación de la belleza de la naturaleza, la importancia del trabajo en equipo y la responsabilidad social.

Durante toda la semana, los estudiantes esquiaron, escalaron y jugaron conociendo los ecosistemas y sus diversas plantas y animales, permitiéndoles así estudiar su comportamiento y aprender cómo viven. Además observaron alces, renos, ovejas y cisnes trompetistas, realizaron actividades sociales y hasta organizaron un partido de fútbol en un lago congelado.

Taller de Pintura
Como cada año, los alumnos de 9° tuvieron la oportunidad de participar en el taller de pintura, el cual fue uno de los Interims que más éxito tuvo este año.

El taller fue impartido por la Sra. Diana Elizondo, reconocida artista plástica, quien enseñó a los alumnos a desarrollar su talento y aprender diversas técnicas al óleo. Los resultados fueron impresionantes.  

Al final de la semana, los alumnos se llevaron a casa dos obras elaboradas por ellos mismos.

Historia y Cultura de Nuevo León
El viaje inició con la visita al municipio de Hualauises, en donde los estudiantes se familiarizaron con las actividades artesanales del lugar como la elaboración de guantes de béisbol, trompos, yoyos y monturas para caballo, entre muchas otras cosas.

Después, los alumnos se trasladaron a la Sierra de Gomas para conocer las Grutas de Bustamante y para finalizar, se hospedaron en las cabañas “Montañas de Santiago” en donde realizaron diferentes recorridos extremos para los que algunos tuvieron que vencer sus miedos.

Cocina
El taller fue impartido por la Chef Mosi Brandi y los alumnos tuvieron la oportunidad de ejecutar una amplia variedad de recetas, que iban desde la cocina básica hasta gastronomía más elaborada como la cocina francesa, italiana y oriental.

Ellos mismos elaboraron, decoraron y degustaron deliciosos platillos. En palabras de la Chef: “Fue una experiencia culinaria única e inolvidable, el principio del placer de disfrutar de la buena mesa”.

Italia
Durante nueve días, 14 alumnos y dos maestras tuvieron la oportunidad de visitar los lugares más hermosos de Italia. El recorrido a través de la historia inició con Milán, la mundialmente conocida “Capital de la Moda”. Se visitó Padua un lugar lleno de misticismo; Florencia, un lugar que fue para todos una experiencia visual. Por su parte Venecia, San Francisco de Asís, Roma, Pompeya y la Isla de Capri, fueron el escenario donde los alumnos pudieron conocer y admirar de cerca el arte barroco y renacentista.

A través de esta experiencia los alumnos admiraron el arte, desarrollaron diferentes habilidades al enfrentarse con retos y toma de decisiones, y tuvieron la oportunidad de convivir con sus compañeros.

During the last week of February, the yearly Interims took place for 9^th grade students from both campuses.

The Interims included local, national and international workshops, for which students enrolled eagerly to live the experience. Among the Interims our students attended are:

Yucatán
Students traveled to the city of Merida and visited the most significant cultural and tourist attractions, as well as sightseeing, such as the San Idelfonzo’s Cathedral, Chichen-Itzá, Uxmal and its illumination show, Cuzamá’s cenotes and the Henequenera Sotuta Ranch in Peón, Puerto Progreso, where they also enjoyed the regional gastronomy.

In addition of learning about Mexican history, the students had the chance to admire an exhibition of Salvador Dali’s paintings and an extraordinary representation of “El Quijote” by the Cuba’s National Ballet. It was definitely and unforgettable experience!

Wyoming
This Interim takes place in Jackson Hole, Wyoming at the Teton Science School, a school whose mail focus is the application of science in nature. Educational programs focus on the appreciation and conservation of the beauty of nature, the importance of teamwork and social responsibility and the development of self-knowledge in society and nature. 

Throughout the week, students skied and hiked through the ecosystems of many different plants and animals to study their behavior and learn about where they live.  They also observed elks, mooses, big-horned sheeps and trumpeter swans; had social activities and organized a football game on a frozen lake.

Painting
Like every other year, 9^th grade students had the opportunity to be part of the painting workshop, which was one of the most successful interims this year.

The workshop was leaded by Mrs. Diana Elizondo, talented plastic artist, who helped the students to develop their talent and taught them several oleo techniques. The results were impressive.

At the end of the week, students took home two beautiful works of art made by them.

Nuevo Leon’s History
The first stop of the trip was Hualauises, where students got to know some of the handcrafts that are made there, such as baseball gloves, Mexican toys and horse saddles, among many other things.

The students then went to Siera de Gomas to visit the caves at Bustamante, and then, they stayed at the “Montañas de Santiago” cabins, where they participated in different extreme activities, for which many of them had to overcome their fears.

International Cuisine
The international cuisine workshop was leaded by Chef Mosi Brandi. The students had the opportunity to learn about several cooking approaches, from basic cooking to Italian, French and Oriental gastronomy.

They elaborated, decorated and tasted all of their food creations. Like the Chef said: “It was an unique and unforgettable cooking experience, a great way to start enjoying fine food”.

Italy
For nine days, 14 students and two teachers visited the most beautiful places in Italy. The journey through history began in Milan, the world know Fashion Capital. Then they visited Padua, a place filled with mysticism; Florence, a complete visual experience. Meanwhile, the students got to know and admire the baroque and renaissance art in Venice, San Francisco de Asis, Rome, Pompeya and Capri Island.

The students were inspired by art and developed several skills when facing with challenges and decision making.
